Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Animal Sciences is to enhance the quality of life through excellence in teaching, research, and outreach programs. Programs are designed to enhance the profitability, efficiency and well-being of animals as related to their environment, to food and fiber production and consumption, and to animal and human activity.
Specific goals include the commitment to excellence in:
- providing quality education to assure that our students are well equipped to identify and solve tomorrow's challenges
- conducting quality research relevant to producers, allied industries, and to consumers
- providing extension programs of vital interest to the leading decision-makers involved in the food animal industry from conception to consumption.
The fruits of these goals are applicable at the state, regional, national, and international level.
